Sports Comp Quality Assessment
To ensure quality of the SportsComp project’s developed outputs, each of the outputs have been assessed by the SportsComp Quality Assurance Team. Quality Assurance Team of the project works in Work Package 1 and is led by Jamk’s Quality Assurance Leader. Throughout the project, the SportsComp Quality assessment has been carried out by two quality experts. For ensuring objectivity, the assessors have been persons who have not been involved in the actual development of the Work Package outputs.
Quality assessment of project outputs is crucial as it offers feedback to the developers on the improvement points. Assessment also helps to spot possible errors, such as language mistakes on which the developers can easily miss during the development process.
7.1 e-learning course quality assessment
The three e-learning courses of the project were qualitatively assessed in writing by two of the Quality Assurance Team members from IFSPT and UT during a two-week period in February 2025. The Quality Assurance Team Leader, in collaboration with the Project Manager, prepared the course assessment templates. The idea of the assessment was to evaluate all the three courses. Written assessment ensured that the given information and feedback by the assessors is understood by the teacher teams whose responsibility it was to fine-tune the courses prior finalising Work Package 3.
The assessment focused on the following points.
1) Content: this included contents, such as the course information provided, timetable, course learning objectives, learning process and teaching methods and learning activities and assignments.
2) Ease of use: this included contents, such as accessibility of contents and course materials, implementation and language.
3) Evidence-base: this included contents, such as course assessment, use of references and course instructions.
4) Moodle environment: this included contents, such as technical aspects, interaction, use of digitalisation, use of tools, overall course accessibility and user-friendliness.
Assessors were asked to pay special attention to those issues that they felt that need improvement and to give course-specific concrete suggestions for improvement. Assessors were also asked to view the courses using a PC and mobile for ensuring accessibility and user friendliness. In addition, assessors were asked to give a a numerical grade (on a scale of 1 for poor – 5 for excellent) to the following elements: 1) Course as a whole, 2) Educational videos, 3) e-learning materials, 4) Moodle platform, 5) Contents for teaching and learning.
After the assessment, teacher teams fine-tuned the courses at the end of the Work Package 3 before moving to Work Package 4, piloting of the e-learning courses.
